Sparkle kicks off construction of first ‘green’ data center in Greece

Sparkle, an international telecommunications provider, has broken ground on its fourth data center in Greece, the company’s first “green” facility of its kind in the country.

On Jan. 21, the company kicked off the operation with a symbolic laying of the foundation stone, attended by Sparkle executives as well as the Ambassador of Italy in Greece, Luigi Marras.

Known as Metamorfosis II, the project is expected to cement one of the largest and most technologically advanced "green" data centers in Europe. The first module of the project is expected to commence service early next year.
