South Korean mobile carrier plans $268m data center

by Andrea Zander

LG Uplus Corp., South Korea's third-largest mobile carrier, has plans to invest more than $267.9 million to build a new internet data center amid growing user demand. Details of the new facility were not disclosed.

The firm’s first-quarter net profit rose 35 percent from a year earlier on the back of growth in 5G network subscriptions.

When built, the new facility will be the company’s fifth data center. LG Uplus already has three data centers in southern Seoul and one in Anyang, to the south of the capital.
