Smart Pension, a workplace pension fund and one of the fastest-growing master trusts in the United Kingdom, has announced an initial £330 million ($442 million) strategic investment in two funds managed by Octopus Energy’s renewable arm, Octopus Energy Generation, to help accelerate the clean-energy transition.
Smart Pension plans to invest 5 percent of its default fund into Sky (Octopus Renewables Infrastructure SCSp) fund and OETF (Octopus Energy Transition Fund SCSp). The move is part of a 15 percent allocation commitment to private markets within the trust’s default fund and reinforces its commitment to long-term sustainable investment, while helping the United Kingdom to accelerate the transition to a net-zero economy.
