Skanska agrees to renovation of Penn Station’s Long Island Rail Road concourse

U.S. construction company Skanska has signed a $392 million contract with Penn District Station Developer to renovate Pennsylvania Station's Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) concourse in New York City.

The contract includes the design and construction of the widening of the LIRR 33rd Street train hall corridor, which involves raised ceiling heights, upgraded lighting and wayfinding, digital information screens and mechanical and electrical work along with new architectural finishes and station enhancements, according to Skanska.

Construction is under way and is scheduled to wrap up in first quarter 2023.

Skanska specializes in building construction, civil infrastructure and developing commercial properties in select markets of the United States.
