Two Brazilian banks have approved $371.4 million of project financing for the modernization and expansion of six airports in northeast Brazil, according to InfraPPP.

The Northeast Block includes the airports of Recife, Maceió, João Pesso, Campina Grande, Aracaju and Juazeiro do Norte. The six airports have been operated by the Spanish group Aena Desarrollo Internacional since 2020.

Brazilian Development Bank will contribute BRL 1 billion ($206.3 million) and Banco do Nordeste do Brasil (BNDES) will provide BRL 790 million ($163.1 million). BNDES also will offer BRL 395 million ($81.5 million) of bank guarantees, corresponding to 50 percent of the credit approved by BNB.
