Siemens Gamesa signs half-gigawatt repowering deal

by Andrea Zander

The German-Spanish company Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will construct a 300-megawatt wind park in India, the largest order in its history in India.

The European manufacturer will install 143 turbines.

The contract was signed with the company Sembcorp Green Infra, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Energy India.

Siemens Gamesa will provide all of the infrastructure needed to equip and operate the facility located in Gujarat. It will also maintain the facility, which is due to be commissioned in April 2019, for 10 years.

In the United States, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy signed two agreements with a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources to repower 508 megawatts of wind power.

The repowering will take place at three projects in Texas. Under one agreement, SGRE will repower 362 units of Vestas’ V47 wind turbines at the Indian Mesa and Woodward wind farms. And under the second agreement, the companies have agreed to repower 210 units at the King Mountain wind farm.
