Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, a supplier of wind power solutions, has been chosen by Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg (EnBW) as the supplier for its 112-megawatt Albatros wind farm in the German North Sea.
The company will supply 16 units of its SWT-7.0-154 turbines for the project.
The plant is expected to be commission in 2019. The firm will then operate and maintain it for five years.
Siemens Gamesa plans to install the turbines at the Albatros site at the same time it installs turbines on the nearby 497-megawatt Hohe See wind project near the island of Borkum.
EnBW owns the two projects together with Canada’s Enbridge. EnBW holds a 50.1 percent stake in each, while its partner owns the remaining 49.9 percent. Construction on both projects was started in April.
In additional news, Siemens Gamesa was also previously named preferred supplier for wpd’s Yunlin offshore wind power project in Taiwan. Construction is set to start in 2019, and installation and commissioning is aimed from 2020 onwards.
