Royal Dutch Shell and Scottish Power Renewables, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, have joined to bid to develop large-scale floating offshore wind farms off the Scottish coast, through the latest ScotWind leasing round.
According to industry sources, the partners have already submitted multiple proposals for the potential projects. Crown Estate Scotland is expected to announce the results of this round of ScotWind Leasing in early 2022, according to OffshoreWind.biz.
“If our bid is successful, Shell and SPR are fully committed to working with Scottish communities and businesses to help develop supply chains and expertise which could make Scotland a world leader in floating wind,” said David Bunch, U.K. country chair of Shell.
