Shanghai Electric, a Chinese multinational power generation and electrical equipment manufacturing company, announced that its 100-megawatt/100-megawatt-hour REP1&2 energy-storage station in the United Kingdom — also its first large-scale overseas energy storage project — has entered commercial operation.
Located in Kent, the REP1&2 project was developed by Pacific Green and purchased by a subsidiary of Generali, Italy’s largest and the world’s third-largest insurance company, earlier this year. The project is now officially operated by Shell Energy Europe and is expected to enhance the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of the power system in the United Kingdom.
The company also shared the Fiskerton II-A solar project in Lincolnshire, the final one of Shanghai Electric’s eight solar projects in the United Kingdom, has been connected to the grid.
