Sempra Infrastructure strikes agreement with Williams for LNG, natural gas projects

by Kali Persall

Sempra Infrastructure has entered into a heads of agreement (HOA) with Williams, an investment-grade C-corp with operations across the natural gas value chain, for the offtake of LNG and the development of associated natural gas pipeline projects.

The projects seek to connect abundant U.S. natural gas supplies in the Gulf Coast region to markets around the world.

The HOA specifically contemplates the negotiation and finalization of two 20-year, long-term, sale-and-purchase agreements for an aggregate 3 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of LNG from the Port Arthur LNG project under development in Jefferson County, Texas, and the Cameron LNG Phase 2 project under development in Hackberry, La. The Port Arthur project has the potential to become one of the largest LNG export facilities in North America. The HOA also contemplates the negotiation of a separate natural gas sales agreement for 0.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcfd) to be delivered in the Gillis, La., area.
