Sembcorp secures round-the-clock power project in India

Sembcorp Industries, a state-owned energy and urban development company in Singapore, has been awarded its first 50-megawatt round-the-clock (RTC) power project in India.

Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) awarded the project to Sembcorp’s wholly owned renewables subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra Private Ltd. (SGIPL). The build-own-operate project is part of SECI’s 1.2-gigawatt tender for RTC power from Inter State Transmission System–connected renewable-energy projects.

Sembcorp plans to integrate approximately 300 megawatts of installed capacity consisting of solar, wind and battery energy storage solutions (BESS) to meet the contracted capacity.

Globally, Sembcorp’s total renewables portfolio has reached 18 gigawatts, including acquisitions pending completion. With this project, Sembcorp will deepen its renewables capabilities in India, taking its gross renewables capacity to more than 6.5 gigawatts.
