Searchlight Capital Partners has appointed Andrew Claerhout as a partner, leading infrastructure investments in North America and Europe for the firm.
In an email, Claerhout said Searchlight plans to start evaluating investment opportunities immediately and will target companies with strong infrastructure attributes that can be grown, improved and repositioned before exit. He will continue to be based in Toronto but travel frequently to New York and London.
Claerhout joins the firm from The Boston Consulting Group, where he served as senior adviser.
He also worked as head of infrastructure and natural resources at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where he worked for 13 years. There, Claerhout was responsible for acquisitions and managing more than $18 billion of investments around the world in the transport and logistics, energy and power, water and waste, and social infrastructure sectors.
