Sacramento commits $50m to KKR Asia Pacific infrastructure fund

by Lewis Dayton

Sacramento County Employees’ Retirement System has committed $50 million to KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors (KKRAPII) II, SCSp.

Managed by Kohlberg, Kravis, & Roberts, KKRAPII II is targeting investments in critical infrastructure with low volatility and strong downside protection in Asia Pacific.

The fund has a mandate to invest in a wide swath of infrastructure opportunities, including in waste, renewables, power and utilities, telecommunications and transportation infrastructure.

As of May 2023, KKRAPII II had raised $5.7 billion of capital, surpassing the original KKRAPII fund, which closed in January 2021 with $3.9 billion of commitments.

Private real assets made up 7.3 percent ($903 million) of SCERS’s $12.34 billion portfolio, as of Sept. 30.
