Renewable-energy company RWE has announced it is increasing its stake in investment company M31, which holds around three quarters of the shares in German transmission system operator Amprion, by 3 percent.
With the transaction, RWE’s total pro rata share in Amprion will increase to around 58 percent, making RWE the majority shareholder of Amprion.
Amprion has two shareholders: M31, a consortium consisting of RWE and German institutional financial investors, and RWE Alkaios, a joint venture between RWE and Apollo Global Management. M31 holds 74.9 percent of the shares in Amprion, and RWE Alkaios holds the remaining 25.1 percent.
With its extra-high-voltage grid, Amprion plays a central role in the German energy system and makes an important contribution to security of supply and to the success of the energy transition.
