RWE acquires East Celtic Wind Farm project off the Irish coast

RWE has acquired Irish company Western Power Offshore Developments, which is in the early stages of developing the East Celtic Wind Farm project off the coast of Ireland. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Located around 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) off the coast of Wexford and Waterford in Ireland, the East Celtic project is in the very early stages of development. A major public consultation exercise has been planned to gather views from local people to help inform the future direction of the project design, which will help decide everything from the overall size of the wind farm to turbine locations, cable routes and land-based developments.

Depending on the final agreed installed capacity, the wind farm could potentially generate up to 900 megawatts of clean wind energy and also bring significant economic benefits to the Southeast region of Ireland.
