RIC Energy, a Spanish company specializing in the development of photovoltaic (PV) projects, has broken ground on the 23-megawatt Nkonge PV farm in Uganda, according to Renewables Now.
RIC Energy is building the project for The Xsabo Group. Energy from the Nkonge PV farm, once operational, will be sold to Uganda Electricity Transmission Co.
Nkonge is said to be the largest privately funded solar project in Uganda and one of the largest in East and Central Africa.
Construction is slated for completion in first half 2023.
