Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has acquired the exclusive development rights for one of the United Kingdom’s largest battery energy storage projects to date.
The planned 230-megawatt / 460-megawatt-hour BESS will be located at the site of the former Uskmouth coal-fired power station in south Wales, utilizing existing power transmission infrastructure.
Quinbrook acquired Uskmouth from Simec Atlantis Energy. Quinbrook affiliate Private Energy Partners (PEP) and Energy Optimisation Solutions (EOS) are jointly undertaking the design and development phases of Project Uskmouth, with PEP leading equipment procurement, construction and operational management. Habitat Energy, one of the major battery storage optimizers in the U.K. market owned by Quinbrook, will optimize the Uskmouth assets once completed and operational.
