Q4 2019 marks largest-ever quarter for energy storage deployments

Fourth quarter 2019 marks the largest-ever quarter for storage deployments across all U.S. market segments, reported Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables.

The front-of-the-meter storage market spiked 160 percent in quarter-over-quarter growth in the fourth quarter 2019, with 103.8 megawatts deployed. Meanwhile, the non-residential BTM sector recorded its second-strongest quarter on record, with 42.2 megawatts deployed. The residential market saw another breakthrough quarter, with 40.4 megawatts installed in the fourth quarter.

For residential storage, California continues to be a market to watch. Wood Mackenzie expects that almost one-in-four residential solar systems in the state will have storage attached in 2020.
