Prime Capital AG, a German asset manager, has acquired a battery energy storage system (BESS) in western Finland.
Developed by Aurinkokarhu Oy, a Finnish renewables company, the Tuovila BESS project is a 125-megawatt project that will have up to four hours of duration and will provide load shifting, balancing and frequency response. The project is expected to begin operations in early 2027, with a construction start in second quarter 2026.
Aurinkokarhu received a development loan from Futureal Energy Partners to fund costs and accelerate the timeline.
