President Donald Trump took strides toward catalyzing broadband build-out within rural communities at the American Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting.
“That is why today, in a few moments, I will take the first step to expand access to broadband Internet in rural America. I will sign two presidential orders to provide broader, faster — and better — Internet coverage,” said President Donald Trump at the 2018 Farm Bureau convention in Nashville, Tenn., on Jan. 8.
Specifically, he signed two presidential orders, which these communities can leverage to bring in outside private capital to get projects built.
In doing so, the president focused on advancing commerce rather than connectivity. This focus is unsurprising as the president ran for office on putting rural productivity to work.
