PPL Corp. contributes to EIP’s $1b fund

by Kali Persall

PPL Corporation, a U.S. energy company generating 7,500 megawatts of power for the Kentucky market, has joined Energy Impact Partners (EIP), in its Flagship Fund, Fund II. The fund held a final close this week, with $1 billion in commitments.

Fund II will invest in venture and growth companies advancing critical climate solutions.

PPL said its participation in Fund II is part of the company's commitment to invest as much as $50 million across EIP's platform to accelerate the shift to a low-carbon future and drive commercial-scale solutions needed to deliver deep, economy-wide decarbonization.

Through Fund II, PPL will work with EIP to identify cutting-edge technologies that advance the zero-carbon economy. This includes companies innovating across supply decarbonization, electrification, tech-enabled infrastructure, reliability and resilience, and intelligent demand.
