National solar developer Pivot Energy has delivered a 1.3-megawatt onsite solar system at Joliet Junior College’s (JJC) main campus in Illinois.
The facility consists of 3,542 solar panels and is expected to produce 61,836,250 kilowatt hours of clean and reliable electricity over the life of the system. Producing enough energy to power more than 5,000 Illinois homes, it will save the college an estimated $1.6 million in electricity expenses over 25 years. In addition, JJC is expected to offset its total energy consumption by 22.5 percent, making the campus one of the greenest in the state.
JJC has completed more than 50 sustainability projects since 2000, including opening multiple LEED-certified buildings.
