PHI Group to invest in expressway P3 project in Vietnam

by Kali Persall

PHI Group has received the green light to invest in the construction of the HCMC-Moc Bai Expressway project in Tay Ninh, Vietnam, according to InfraPPP.

The public-private partnership (P3) project involves the development of the 53.5 kilometer (33.2-mile) long expressway, connecting Ring Road No 3 in the Hoc Mon district with Moc Bai International Border Gate between Vietnam and Cambodia in the Tay Ninh province. The expressway seeks to reduce traffic pressure on National Route 22 and promote the socioeconomic development of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the Southern Focal Economic Zone.

The total investment for the first phase of the project is $700 million. About 44 percent of this will come from public capital from the budgets of Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh Province, with the remaining 56 percent coming from investors.

The project is slated to begin construction in third quarter 2023, with completion expected by 2027.
