PGGM has appointed Geraldine Leegwater as CIO. She will succeed Eloy Lindeijer, who is leaving the firm on Oct. 1 after nearly 10 years.
Leegwater currently chairs the investment committee at Dutch pension fund ABP, and she is also a member of the investment committee of De Nederlandsche Bank. She will resign from these positions when she joins PGGM.
In her new role, Leegwater will represent the investment management business unit in the executive committee, which is responsible for the daily management of the company.
“PGGM plays a leading role in the Dutch pension sector, for example in helping to shape a new pension system,” said Leegwater. “As a pension investor, the organization is actively involved in initiatives at home and abroad to improve the sustainability of investments.
She added: “And with its heritage and ties in the Dutch healthcare and welfare sector, PGGM recognizes the huge social value of this sector which has my particular att
