Partners Group buys majority stake in German renewable developer

Switzerland-based Partners Group has agreed to acquire an 80 percent equity stake in VSB Group, a European developer, owner and operator in the renewable energy sector.

Following the transaction, VSB’s founder will retain the remaining 20 percent stake alongside Partners Group.

VSB has developed and built more than 1.1 gigawatts of onshore wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) generating assets to date. The company also manages more than 1.4 gigawatts of wind assets.

The transaction value, which was not disclosed, includes a significant allocation to fund future growth, allowing for the option to retain ownership of assets and develop an independent power producer, according to Partners Group.
