by Andrea Waitrovich

Pacifico Energy K.K. has begun construction of the largest solar-power plant in Japan.

The 258-megawatt facility in the western prefecture of Okayama is expected to start operations in September 2019. It will be firm’s third project in Okayama.

Once commissioned, the plant will generate about 290 million kWh of electricity annually, representing an annual reduction of about 200,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Chugoku Electric Power Co. will purchase all electricity generated by the plant.
