Nordic developer OX2 has acquired the rights to a 400-megawatt wind farm in Finland from YIT, the country’s largest construction company.
The project will be located in Lestijarvi municipality in Central Ostrobothnia. Once commissioned, the annual energy production of Lestijarvi wind farm will be approximately 1.4 terawatt hours, representing two percent of the total electricity production in Finland.
Lestijarvi will be Finland’s largest wind power project.
“The greatest benefits from renewable energy projects are achieved when they are implemented on a large scale,” said Teemu Loikkanen, country manager for OX2 Finland. “In addition to the wind farm, we will build a 1,300-megawatt electricity transmission line, and with the nearby Halsua wind power project, we will be able to offer plenty of job opportunities for companies in the economic area.”
OX2 said the wind farm will be constructed without government subsidies. In addition to having 72
