Orsted hits 1,500 mark for offshore wind turbine installations

Since January, Danish power company Orsted has installed 25 8-megawatt wind turbines at its Borssele 1 & 2 farm, which is located 22 kilometers (13.6 miles) off the coast of the Dutch province of Zeeland. A total of 94 turbines will be installed at Borssele 1 & 2, making it the largest offshore wind farm in the Netherlands when completed, according to Orsted.

With the latest installations, Orsted has installed 1,500 offshore wind turbines, becoming the first offshore wind developer to hit this number.

Prior to the Borssele 1 & 2 installation, Orsted had 6.8 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity installed globally, which supplies the equivalent of 6.6 million households with green electricity annually. Orsted is currently constructing 3 gigawatts of offshore wind and is planning to have installed a total of 15 gigawatts by 2025 in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
