by Kali Persall

In response to media speculations, Ørsted has confirmed that it is in late-stage negotiations with Ostwind and its shareholders regarding the potential acquisition of Ostwind.

Ørsted, which is based in Denmark, said it has plans to continually expand its onshore business in Europe.

Ostwind is an independent family business, founded by Gisela Wendling-Lenz and Ulrich Lenz, with offices in Germany and France. According to its website, Ostwind has planned, constructed and connected 603 wind turbines with a total capacity of 1,085 megawatts. It has also implemented numerous successful solar projects.

Ørsted said it could give no assurances about whether or when a transaction would be concluded.
