Oracle to switch global operations to 100% renewable-energy

by Kali Persall

Oracle has pledged to power its global operations with 100 percent renewable energy by 2025.

The renewable goal pertains to both Oracle’s facilities and its cloud. Oracle's European Cloud regions are currently powered with 100 percent renewable energy, and Oracle has 51 offices around the world that also have made the switch.

Oracle seeks to provide customers with technology that enables them to reduce their carbon footprint. Safra Catz, CEO of the company, said the new goal reflects the shared values of its customers, partners and investors.

“Renewable energy is critical to tackling climate change and helping us move to a cleaner, greener future,” said Kwasi Kwarteng, the United Kingdom’s Secretary of Business and Energy. “Oracle's ambitious pledge today will ensure it is going further and faster to reach a sustainable future, and inspiring other businesses around the world to be more environmentally friendly.”
