New research from Carne Group, Europe’s largest third-party management company and a provider of fund regulation and governance solutions for the asset management industry, reveals strong optimism in the infrastructure sector, driven by macro tailwinds and fundraising momentum.
Although fundraising dipped to $9.7 billion in 2024, bringing total infrastructure assets under management to $1.6 trillion, optimism increased in 2025, with 84 percent of managers surveyed expecting inflows to rise. This positive sentiment is underpinned by the major investment opportunity represented by growing demand for new infrastructure associated with artificial intelligence (AI), as well as the net-zero transition.
Alongside this comes increased participation in the asset class by retail investors taking advantage of semi-liquid fund vehicles and reforms such as the United Kingdom’s LTAF regime.
