Ontario Teachers’ hits $207.4b in assets in 2019, posts 10.4% return

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan recorded a 10.4 percent net return for 2019, according to a March 31 statement.

As of Dec. 31, 2019, the pension plan’s assets were at $207.4 billion, a $16.3 billion increase from the previous year. Ontario Teachers said it earned $20.2 billion in investment income in 2019, the most in the organization’s history.

Ontario Teachers' infrastructure portfolio was valued at nearly nearly $17.8 billion as of Dec. 31, 2018.

“Each of our asset classes achieved positive returns during the year, showing the value of a well-constructed and -diversified portfolio,” said Ziad Hindo, CIO of Ontario Teachers. “This year was a transformational year, with a number of significant transactions conducted globally.”
