School Employees Retirement System (SERS) of Ohio has approved $100 million of commitments to two infrastructure strategies within its real-assets portfolio.
The pension fund slated $50 million each for Brookfield Global Transition Fund (BGTF) and DigitalBridge Fund Partners II (DBP II), according to a board meeting document from February.
BGTF, managed by Brookfield Asset Management, will focus on scaling clean energy and investing to catalyze the transformation of carbon-intensive businesses to achieve Paris-alignment. With a $7.5 billion target and a $12 billion hard cap, BGTF is the largest vehicle focused on the global transition to a net-zero economy.
Buyout Insider reports that the fund is even larger than expected, and is in the final stages of closing at $15 billion.
