Nuveen’s Diversified Infrastructure team has purchased a 40 percent minority interest in Lunera Energi, a district heating provider operating in Norway, from Statkraft, the country’s state-owned utility and independent power producer.
Lunera operates two fully integrated, brownfield district heating networks, delivering more than 600 gigawatt-hours of heating annually across a 280-kilometer (174-mile) pipeline network to nearly 6,000 customers.
District heating represents a compelling example of an infrastructure asset characterized by natural local monopoly dynamics and a meaningful role in the broader energy transition.
