NeXtWind makes good on its wind farm rejuvenation strategy

NeXtWind has invested more than $50 million in wind energy projects in northern Germany. The projects have a combined capacity of 70 megawatts, and an average age of 14 years.

The new acquisitions were made following the company’s debut fundraising round that secured $100 million from institutional investors and family offices.

In February, NeXtWind launched a strategy aimed at acquiring and rejuvenating “teenage” wind farms in Germany that are reaching the end of their regulatory life. The company will either repower or conduct lifetime extension work on the assets, with the goal of revamping a portfolio of more than 1 gigawatt of wind parks.
