NextEra Energy pens 2.5GW of clean-energy contracts with Meta

NextEra Energy recently signed 2.5 gigawatts of clean-energy contracts with Meta across the United States.

This includes 11 power-purchase agreements (PPAs) and two energy storage agreements, spread across nine solar PPAs in the energy markets of ERCOT, the Southwest Power Pool and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). New Mexico also will add 190 megawatts of solar and 168 megawatts of battery storage.

All projects are scheduled to come online between 2026 and 2028.

The agreements support massive growth in power demand from artificial intelligence (AI) and data center expansion.
