NextEra Energy opens new solar energy center in South Carolina

NextEra Energy Resources has commenced operations at its newest solar energy generating facility, the Shaw Creek Solar Energy Center in Aiken, S.C.

The center spans 560 acres and features more than 270,000 photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, with the capacity to generate 74.9 megawatts of electricity. Construction lasted 10 months.

Over its operational life, the Shaw Creek Solar Energy Center is expected to generate nearly $9 million in additional tax revenue for Aiken County.

NextEra Energy is the largest capital investor of infrastructure among energy companies in the United States, according to the company.
