A coalition of energy, infrastructure and utility companies are joining forces to develop a $100 billion data center campus at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Paducah Site, a former uranium enrichment site, in Western Kentucky.
The partnership coalition includes Brookfield, NextEra Energy, Big Rivers Electric Power Corp., Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative and Paducah Power System.
The campus, which will be fully constructed in 2032, will support up to 1.8 gigawatts of utility capacity and more than 1.2 gigawatts of compute capacity. It also will be supported by up to 4.6 gigawatts of dedicated energy infrastructure, built specifically for the project. Consistent with President Trump’s Ratepayer Protection Pledge, the project’s generation and storage capacity would exceed the campus’s energy needs, allowing excess electricity to be delivered to the regional grid to help reduce energy costs for American families and businesses.
