NextEnergy Capital (NEC) has acquired a 107-megawatt portfolio of three standalone operational battery energy storage (BESS) assets through its private fund, NextEnergy UK I (NEUK I).
The portfolio includes the 40-megawatt Maldon, the 28-megawatt Basildon and the 39-megawatt Loudwater assets, located across southeast England near major demand centers and key grid infrastructure. This positions the assets to benefit from the increasing flexibility requirements of the U.K. electricity system, according to NEC. All three assets are fully operational and benefit from long-term capacity market contracts and established routes to market through high-quality operational counterparties.
