New RFQ issued for LRT project in Canada

The City of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, has issued a request for qualifications for phase two of the Valley Line West LRT project, according to InfraPPP.

The second stage of the project includes a 145-kilometer (90-mile) extension with connections to LRT and bus routes throughout the city. Running from Mill Woods through downtown to the west end, the route has 14 stops, including the West Edmonton Mall, the Misericordia Hospital and the Brewery District. The project is slated for completion by 2027.

Using a design-build-finance (DBF) model, the contract will require the bidder to take care of the design and construction of the project and provide partial private financing. The city will be tasked with procuring light-rail vehicles, for which it is currently exploring options.
