New CEFC, Infradebt program to finance mid-scale renewables in Australia

The CEFC, Australia’s specialist climate investor, has committed A$100 million ($70 million) to unlock the “missing middle” of the continent’s clean-energy transition, working with infrastructure debt manager Infradebt to accelerate delivery of mid-scale renewable-energy assets.

The investment will finance the development of up to 16 hybrid solar, battery and battery retrofit projects and will be delivered through a new financing initiative, the Distribution Connected Accelerator Program (DCAP), developed with Infradebt.

The DCAP, which builds on a separate previous $150 million CEFC commitment to Infradebt, will support a pipeline of distribution-connected projects on which construction will commence in 2027. It will focus on projects up to 5 megawatts with the capacity to encompass larger projects.

Infradebt plans to establish the program through a competitive process to shortlist prospective proponents.
