Networks Options Assessment to unlock $6.7b of grid infra investments in Scotland

SSEN Transmission, the electricity-transmission owner for the north of Scotland, lauded the publication of this year’s Networks Options Assessment (NOA), which unlocks more than £5 billion ($6.7 billion) of investment in grid infrastructure in the north of Scotland.

The Network Options Assessment (NOA) is a recommendation published by National Grid ESO, the electricity system operator for Great Britain, that determines which major electricity transmission network reinforcement projects should receive investment.

The NOA assesses the reinforcements required to the electricity transmission networks owned by the three onshore Transmission Owners (TOs). It takes the connection point of assets owned by other customers as inputs. This year’s NOA aims to enable progress for the next six months to help TOs to proceed with the development of their projects between January and June. This is different from previous NOA’s, which usually cover a full year.
