MPC Energy Solutions (MPCES) has entered the Panama market with new developments focusing on ground-mounted solar photovoltaic, expanding its development footprint in Latin America.
MPCES and its partners already have identified sites and grid connection capacity for a combined 60 megawatts to 70 megawatts, with immediate start of development works and the goal of growing this pipeline through its own developments and/or acquisitions. The new development projects will support the company’s goal to reach 800 megawatts of ready-to-build projects in the region by 2025 and to achieve 1,000 megawatts of sustainable energy assets across Latin America and the Caribbean by 2027.
Panama aims to transform 50 percent of the country’s generation capacity to renewables by 2050. The country already produces 54 percent of its electricity through hydroelectric power.
