MPC Capital sells Jamaica’s largest solar plant to InterEnergy Group

by Kali Persall

A subsidiary of MPC Capital has sold the 51-megawatts-peak Paradise Park PV solar plant in Jamaica, the largest in the island nation.

MPC Caribbean Clean Energy Ltd., a Caribbean-based investment company established to enable private and institutional investors from Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago to invest in renewable energy-projects in these regions, sold the solar park to InterEnergy Group, an integrated energy-solutions provider operating in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Commissioned in 2019, Paradise Park was the first asset of MPC Caribbean Clean Energy Ltd. and plays a central role in achieving Jamaica’s sustainable-energy goals. The project was developed in partnership with Neoen and financed by the French development bank PROPARCO and the Dutch development bank FMO.

“As our first project in the Caribbean, Paradise Park has been of significant importance for MPC Capital since the start of construction,” said Philipp Lauenstein, CFO of MPC Capi
