Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) has acquired Spanish private healthcare group Viamed Salud from a consortium of private investors.
The latest acquisition, Viamed Salud, owns and operates facilities that provide essential healthcare services to patients through its network of nine acute care hospitals, three convalescence centers, 15 outpatient clinics and one specialist aged care facility.
“Long-term trends such as an aging population and a growing private healthcare sector in Spain will see operators like Viamed Salud become an increasingly important component of the healthcare system,” said Juan Cano, head of Iberia for MIRA.
The transaction was made via Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 6 (MEIF6), which held its final close in June 2019 with €6 billion ($7 billion) in capital commitments, exceeding its initial target of €5 billion ($6 billion)
