Meta, formerly known as Facebook, Inc., is planning a €1 billion ($1.1 billion) data-center campus in Spain, earning recognition as “a colossal project for Spain and internationally.”
According to Data Center Dynamics, the data center is planned on 2 million square meters (21.5 million square feet) of land in the Torrehierro Polygon Industrial Estate at Talavera, which is 115 kilometers (71 miles) from Madrid. It will be located next to the existing industrial development, Torrehierro Phase 1.
Sources say the project is expected to be built by 2023, but likely won’t be fully operational until six years later.
