Meridiam and Sevana Bioenergy to develop biodigester project in Idaho

by Kali Persall

Meridiam has made its foray into the biogas sector in a partnership with developer Sevana Bioenergy, a service provider and long-term co-investor. The companies will develop a biodigester project near Twin Falls, Idaho, according to Renewable Energy Magazine.

The $35 million project will involve the acquisition of an existing biogas facility that produces clean, renewable electricity from the anaerobic digestion of dairy manure that is delivered to the electric grid under a power-purchase agreement with local utility Idaho Power.

The partnership will upgrade the facility to produce renewable natural gas that will be distributed as renewable transportation fuel for commercial vehicles. The second phase will commence in third quarter 2020.
