Matrix Renewables, the Madrid-based global renewable-energy platform, has agreed to acquire a 91-megawatt solar portfolio in Italy from Spanish developer Solaer, according to Renewables Now.
The portfolio consists of 15 different projects, which are expected to begin construction in 2022.
Matrix Renewables entered the Italian market in September, unveiling a goal to operate at least 500 megawatts in the solar, storage and wind sectors throughout the country.
“Through this agreement with Solaer, Matrix continues to accelerate its growth toward becoming a leading renewable-energy platform in Italy and around the world,” said Inigo Asensio, head of M&A and investments at Matrix Renewables. “We continue to explore additional opportunities in Europe, the U.S. and Latin America in our international expansion.”
