MasOrange, Vodafone Spain and GIC to launch colossal joint fiber network company

MasOrange, Vodafone Spain and GIC have joined forces to create FibreCo, Spain’s largest fiberoptic company.

According to the agreement terms, MasOrange will hold a 58 percent stake in FibreCo, Vodafone Spain will hold a 17 percent stake and GIC will take 25 percent.

The fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network will be dedicated exclusively to MasOrange and Vodafone, and customers from both operators will be able to use it. MasOrange and Vodafone Spain will contribute approximately 12 million homes and 5 million customers to the new joint fiber network company. The companies also will maintain and operate the networks they have respectively contributed to the FibreCo.

As part of the transaction, MasOrange confirmed it will purchase Conexus Networks, a wholesale FTTH access provider in the Northern Spain, and contribute it to FibreCo.
