Global wealth and asset management firm Manulife has hired Myron Zhu as head of the firm’s private market business in Hong Kong, according to several media sources.
In his new role, he will be responsible for enhancing Manulife's Private Markets franchise in Asia, with a focus on developing and executing third-party strategies that will distinguish its specialized investment capabilities to address investors' needs.
Zhu joins Manulife from Aberdeen Standard Investments, where he served as co-head of private equity for the Asia Pacific region for nearly four years. In this role, he focused on sourcing and managing primary investments in Greater China, as well as heading Aberdeen’s co-investment activities across Asia Pacific.
Prior to that, he worked as a partner at FLAG Squadron Asia and executive director and head of private equity, CIO Asia, at JPMorgan Chase. He also has served in positions at investment banks and firms such as DBS Private Equity in Hong Kong, IG Capital Partners, Credit Suisse and Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets.
Zhu holds a BS from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
